Packaging and load optimisation were especially prominent at IntraLogisteX 2026, and not just within the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition.
Sealed Air demonstrated ProPad Mini, ProPad Horizontal and AUTOBAG systems, while also running an interactive packaging-speed challenge on the stand. Its messaging focused on packaging productivity, right sizing, reduced waste and on-pack personalisation, including AUTOBAG systems that can print directly onto bags and, in one case, run at up to 45 bags per minute.
Packsize, meanwhile, gave the event a ‘world-first product’ angle through its X5, the world’s first fully automated erected box system, capable of producing up to 600 ready-to-pack custom boxes per hour.
The sustainability and packaging conversation was strengthened further by Orkka, which used the show to launch and discuss its rebrand following the merger of Hazel 4D, Kwikpac and Acopia Group’s Transit Packaging Division.
During the opening session in the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition Theatre, Orkka argued that packaging has too often been treated as a commodity driven by price rather than as a strategic lever for performance, resilience and environmental progress.
That line sat comfortably with the wider direction of the event. Lil Packaging, for instance, used its conference session to argue that the real packaging problem is not paper versus plastic void fill, but the oversized box and inefficient pack design that creates waste in the first place.
SAP’s session then pushed the issue into the compliance and data arena, warning that packaging strategy in the age of extended producer responsibility (EPR) and the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is increasingly a product-data challenge as much as a materials challenge.
Taken together, those contributions made clear that packaging is becoming a more strategic function across logistics operations, not a peripheral one.
