Kimberly-Clark has activated contingency plans following a fire at a distribution centre in Ontario, California operated by third-party logistics provider NFI Industries.
The company confirmed that no injuries were reported and all personnel at the site were safely evacuated following the fire on 7 April. Emergency services attended the incident.
The 1.2 million ft2 distribution centre, which is leased by Kimberly-Clark and operated by NFI Industries, forms part of the company’s logistics network.
Kimberly-Clark said, “no manufacturing assets were impacted” and that no company employees were present onsite at the time of the fire.
In response to the disruption, the company has activated its coordinated response plans, working closely with local logistics providers to maintain continuity for customers.
Specifically, teams have identified alternative locations for inbound shipments and are securing additional warehousing capacity through local partners. The company also said it is working through mitigating any short-term disruptions as these plans are executed.
Kimberly-Clark’s brand portfolio includes Huggies, Kleenex and Andrex.
