Zenobē and Woolworths have announced a deal leasing 148 electric trucks- Australia’s largest ever electric truck fleet rollout.
Supported by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), first deliveries commenced in May, with the full fleet rollout to be completed progressively through 2026.
Zenobē country director for Australia and New Zealand, Gareth Ridge, said: “This project is evidence that electrification is a commercial opportunity.
“Large-scale zero-emissions logistics is no longer a pilot, it’s commercially viable and operationally proven.”
Expressions of Interest officially opened last month for the Zenobē Fleet Electrification Program, inviting medium and large heavy vehicle operators across Australia to participate.
As electric vehicle infrastructure, financing models and operational capabilities continue to mature, partnerships backed by organisations such as the CEFC are helping pave the way for a cleaner, more resilient national transport network.
The agreement builds on a AUD$6 million (c. £3.11m) investment by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation into Zenobe previously, which backed the use of 60 electric trucks.
This indicates Zenobē‘s push towards their wider ambition- seeking to double the number of electric trucks in Australia by the end of 2026.
Zenobē supports over 3,400 commercial electric vehicles in 122 depots globally and is the largest owner and operator of electric buses in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
“The direction we set in the next five years will define the trajectory for the next two decades,” Ridge added.
