Global logistics provider GEODIS announced it is deploying a tailored European multimodal solution to support MND deliver equipment for the development of the Chimgan resort in Uzbekistan.
Beginning in March 2026, construction equipment will be shipped from multiple European production sites and transported via a carefully designed multimodal route to the resort, located in the heart of the Tchatkal Mountains.
The French industrial group, MND which specialises in cable mobility, snowmaking systems, mountain safety and leisure infrastructure, is supplying key equipment for the project. GEODIS said it has already managed 92 shipments to Uzbekistan, including four exceptional convoys transporting cable lift systems and associated infrastructure.
The next phase of shipments will include transport of chairlifts, gondolas, an alpine coaster, ziplines, and other installations for ski resort.
Operating within a complex geopolitical environment that excludes transit through Russia or Iran, GEODIS said its teams designed an alternative, reliable, and optimised logistics solution.
The route combines road and sea transport using tautliner semi-trailers, ensuring minimal handling between loading and final delivery. Shipments will depart from several European sites via the ports of Sète (France) and Trieste (Italy), before transiting through Turkey and the Caspian Sea to Uzbekistan. Average transit times are expected to range between 30 and 45 days.
“This highly complex international project perfectly illustrates our expertise: building tailor-made supply chains where traditional routes are no longer available. Our role is to secure flows, control lead times, and provide long-term support to our industrial clients on such strategic international projects,” said Marc Vollet, executive vice-president of European Road Network activities at GEODIS.
The development work at Chimgan aims to position the resort as a flagship mountain tourism destination, with ambitions to become one of Central Asia’s leading leisure and adventure hubs.
