Origin, a JV between HBD and Feldberg Capital, has started work on the second phase of APTUS (£22m GDV).
This will deliver a further 107,000ft² of space after Origin acquired part of the scheme in December 2025.
APTUS is a £100m GDV industrial and logistics (I&L) development close to Preston and just minutes from Junction 31A of the M6. It is being delivered in joint venture by HBD and Barnfield.
Once complete, APTUS will provide a total of 790,000ft² of sustainable I&L space and is expected to create as many as 1,500 new jobs.
Work is already well underway on phase one, with a 145,000ft² manufacturing facility being developed by Kerakoll.
Phase two will see Origin deliver a further three units between 26,507ft² and 53,841ft². All three buildings will be complete and ready for occupation later this year.
Barnfield Construction is building the three units on behalf of Origin.
HBD executive director, Vivienne Clements, said: “We have seen strong interest from potential occupiers seeking well-connected, sustainable I&L buildings with excellent power provision and market-ready infrastructure.
“We know that Grade A space remains constrained in key locations like Preston so it’s positive to be able to bring this second phase forward.”
