The Port of Gothenburg has acquired a large area located in the port’s outer areas for the purposes of a long-term plan for further expansion.
The agreement was signed with Platzer, with the total transaction value, which also includes a minor property sale, amounting to SEK 684 million (c. £54m).
In the same nearby area, construction is currently underway on Stena Line’s new ferry terminal, which is planned to be completed in 2031.
The new property included in today’s transaction is located directly adjacent to this area.
Revenue from the property’s existing office buildings will form the basis for financing the continued development of the area.
Both the acquisition and divestment of the respective properties are subject to approval by the municipal council. Transfer of ownership is expected to take place no earlier than the fourth quarter of 2026.
Regional transport has also remained active, with 199 horses moved by road within the UAE and across the GCC, supporting ongoing competitions and training operations under increased security protocols and operational oversight.
Port of Gothenburg CEO, Göran Eriksson, said: “This acquisition is carried out to create conditions for the port’s continued long-term development.
“The Port of Gothenburg needs to keep growing in the future, and this is a natural step directly adjacent to existing port operations and surrounding logistics infrastructure.
“We are seeing steady volume growth over time, and to support the global competitiveness of Swedish industry, continuous development of the port is required.”
