Quadient plans to sell its global parcel locker business, following completion of a strategic review.
The company has already entered into an agreement to sell its UK open network, with an installed base of around 3,000 lockers, to IDS Holdco Limited for €65 million (c. £56m). The lockers will become part of Royal Mail’s growing out-of-home network.
The transaction is expected to complete before the end of the 2026 financial year.
Martin Seidenberg, CEO of International Distribution Services, which owns Royal Mail, said: “This is an exciting step forward for our business as we continue to further grow and strengthen our out-of-home network.”
Once complete, the acquisition will bring additional scale, customer volume and an experienced team into our network, as well as a strong pipeline of future locations.”
Quadient has also launched a sale process for its remaining lockers operations in Japan and North America. Its smaller European private network will be retained and managed by the company’s mail business.
The global lockers operation has grown from around 2,000 lockers and €6m in revenue in 2018 to 27,700 lockers worldwide at the end of January 2026. The business generated €114m in FY 2025, up 22.4% year on year.
Geoffrey Godet, CEO of Quadient, said: “We will now apply the same disciplined, value-focused approach to the sale process we have launched for the rest of the lockers business, while continuing to operate as usual and support our customers.”
Quadient said the divestment would allow it to focus investment on its digital operations and remove approximately €120m of planned capital expenditure over the next five years.
It expects to complete the sale of its remaining locker operations within 12 months.
Urban Logistics, taking place at Excel London on 9-10 June 2027, will bring together logistics operators, retailers, property owners and developers, technology and fleet providers, local authorities and policymakers to examine how cities can turn ambitions such as those in the Draft London Plan into workable, commercially viable logistics networks.
