Logistics and automotive skills and training provider Mantra is to head the government’s Response to Redundancy initiative in the North West.
Mantra will lead a collaboration of eight other North West-based training providers, in response to the initiative, which totals ÂŁ100 million for the UK.
The training provider has launched Job Gym – a scheme designed to help people who have been made redundant, or are under threat of redundancy, to refresh their skills to return to work either in the same industry, or help them branch out into other industries.
Training will be provided on a range of subjects such as health and safety, HGV driving, forklift truck driving, numeracy and secretarial skills, and food hygiene. There is also help for self-employed contractors whose contracts have ended.
The Job Gym centres will provide individuals with advice and guidance on areas such as interview techniques, confidence building, composing a CV and assistance in how best to use and apply transferable skills within the current local job market.
Each individual will be offered up to £1,500’s worth of personalised training.
