Multipart Supply Chain Solutions will continue to provide parts support to all UK LDV van owners, following its takeover by Indian automotive conglomerate TVS Group.
Multipart, which is the sole supplier of captive parts for the 115,000 LDV vans in service in the UK, will also supply the full range of proprietary components used in these vehicles.
It will draw on the manufacturing capabilities of its new parent company to help support this.
Discussions are ongoing regarding supply, with the new owners of the LDV company, China Ventures. These include the possibility of sourcing LDV components from low-cost overseas production facilities within the TVS Group.
The plan is to increase the inventory of LDV parts held at Multipart’s Chorley distribution centre and by the 80-strong LDV dealer network.
The current stock at Chorley is valued at some £10 million, with a further £4 million held by the dealers.
Brendan Leach, director of direct sales at Multipart, said: “Since the collapse of LDV our track record in providing parts support has been generally good, with off-the-shelf availability at well over 90 per cent. We recognise that there are some difficulties and are vigorously pursuing other avenues of supply, particularly in relation to a small number of captive parts, such as body panels. Further announcements can be expected soon.
“In the meantime customers can continue to get their vehicles repaired at their local LDV dealer. If they are using an independent repairer, then those firms can obtain the majority of parts easily and quickly, with most of the dealers offering a same or next day delivery.”
