Wincanton has invested more than £3 million in its food service infrastructure through the development of a 110,000 sq ft composite distribution centre at Trafford Park, Manchester.
The facility increases Wincanton’s foodservice throughput capacity by more than 125 per cent and provides over 40,000 sq ft of frozen storage, 38,000 sq ft of chilled storage and 18,000 sq ft of ambient storage or space for nearly 6,500 pallets of product.
David Jones, managing director of foodservice at Wincanton, said: “We now have significantly more capacity in our network, enabling both Wincanton’s growth ambitions and those of our existing customers.
“We are investing significantly in our foodservice business and have aggressive plans for growth.”
The site at Trafford Park will be available to serve the foodservice supply chain throughout the UK and has brought 25 new jobs to the local area.
