Trailer manufacturer Montracon received its first retrofit order for its load retention strap ratchet system launched just a few weeks ago from the company that pilot tested the prototypes.
Known as the Retractostrap, the strap and ratchet system is designed to improve loading safety, load security and vehicle turnaround on curtainsiders.
Cambridgeshire based Rocma Freight Services has ordered several kits to be retrofitted to trailers used on a dedicated contract moving packaging for Smurfit Kappa from plants in Flint and March near Peterborough to customers throughout the UK.
Rocma operations director Phil Oakes said: ‘Rocma Freight pilot tested the system in several of its trailers over the four months prior to the launch. It follows that the pilot test was highly successful and that during the trial, which included returns with raw materials and some third party back loading, the system more than lived up to the claims made for it. Our drivers liked the system; our customers were favourably impressed too. Our intention is to progressively fit the system to all of the curtainsiders in the fleet over time,’ he closed.”
