Matthew Wild has moved to head up the logistics function at Cemex UK, the building materials supplier as vice president, commercial cement, building products & logistics.
He will be responsible for sales of more than two million tonnes of cementitious products and have full P&L responsibility for the Cemex Building Products business, as well as management of all outbound logistics for the aggregates, asphalt, cement and building products business in the UK.
Cemex UK has a fleet of around 400 trucks and 2,000 sub-contract hauliers moving some 50 million tonnes a year.
Wild said the main challenge of his role was “to ensure that, in the face of challenging market conditions, we continue to be focused in providing a first class customer service and value for money in everything that we do”.
Wild has been promoted from regional director, Southern Aggregates and in his new role will report to Gonzalo Galindo, the president of Cemex UK.
He joined Cemex UK (previously RMC) in 2001 and his first role was sourcing alternative fuels within the cement sector of business.
He then held a number of procurement and logistics roles in the company as well as running the UK’s Ash & Terminals operations. In his most recent role of aggregates regional director, Wild had management responsibility for £100m pa sales of sand, gravel, rock and hardstone across the south of England and Wales.
