Charles Wilson, chief executive, Booker Group is to be the next pr president of the Institute of Grocery Distribution taking over from Justin King, chief executive of Sainsbury’s.
Wilson has been vice-president of IGD for the last two years. He said: “I will help IGD continue to improve the grocery supply chain to benefit the UK’s 60 million consumers via the 600,000 businesses and the 3.6 million people employed in the British grocery trade.”
He has been chief executive of Booker since November 2005, joining from Marks & Spencer where he was executive director for property, IT and supply chain.
Fiona Dawson, president of Mars Chocolate UK, becomes vice-president. “I am very much looking forward to working with Charles and contributing to an exciting programme of activities at IGD spanning sustainability, skills and nutrition,” she said.
