Extended Supply Chain  2011 opens tomorrow, and will bring together supply chain leaders from a range of industry sectors to discuss, network and debate supply chain best practice and operational excellence.

The stellar line up of speakers includes David Warrick of Microsoft, Professor Johan Gattorna and Lourens Schouwink of Samsung.

David Warrick, Microsoft’s GM manufacturing and supply chain, EMEA and Asia Pacific, will explain how Microsoft has been developing an out-sourced supply chain, focusing on a strategy, design and partnership which has led it to be truly demand driven.

Dr John Gattorna, who developed the concept of dynamic supply chain alignment, will be explaining how people drive supply chains at the conference.

He will introduce his dynamic alignment framework which ties the enterprise to its demand and source markets, and help to inform how we should be designing and operating contemporary supply chains.

An Claes, director supply chain innovation & performance management at Nike, will explain how it goes about being responsive to market demand. She will consider the importance of a strong vision and innovation agenda, as well as an aligned point of view across all supply chain functions.

And she will talk about developing a consistent way to engage and cascade those priorities throughout the layers of the organisation.

Lourens Schouwink, chief financial officer of Samsung Benelux, will be giving the CFO perspective on aligning supply chain strategy with the overall business strategy. He will look at the relationship between Finance & Supply Chain at Samsung Electronics, integrating supply chains to enhance financial performance, understanding the cultural differences of working for an Asian enterprise and how this can proactively effect the supply chain, and emerging global trends and the consequences for the extended supply chain.

John Gattorna will also be running a post-conference workshop entitled: “Designing and implementing New Age supply chains”.

And there will also be a pre-conference S&OP day: The Evolution of S&OP – Aligning people, processes and business strategy.
