Chilled storage and distribution firm Cold Move, has selected Toyota Material Handling to provide warehouse trucks for its UK operation.
Cold Move operates from three depots on the North West and has 48,000 pallet spaces at its frozen warehouse, blast freezing and specialist distribution throughout the UK.
The new fleet includes BT Reflex reach trucks and BT Levio powered pallet trucks.
The BT Reflex reach trucks are fitted with cold store cabs which are fully insulated from the cold conditions, while the BT LEvio ride-on powered pallet trucks feature a platform and fixed backrest.
Mike Lythgoe, operations director at Cold Move, said: “During extensive competitive trials we found the BT Reflex reach truck with cold store cab surpassed our expectations in terms of design, innovation, all round visibility and overall quality compared to the other trucks we trialled.
“The improved specification on the ride-on powered pallet trucks with fixed backrests, powered steering and battery change capability are also helping us to improve our productivity.”
Cold Move has also implemented a new Toyota battery change tugger, which is designed to enable quick battery changing with minimal downtime and risk to operatives during the process.
Cold Move also employed the use of high frequency chargers, which help to reduce draw on electricity, reduce watering and improve carbon footprint.
Mike Lythgoe concluded: “The new battery change system provides a considerable cost saving to our business. Combined with the Toyota I_Site fleet management system and the use of Toyota wireless technology we are able to have complete control of our fleet and manage our costs more effectively.”
