Larger site for Fowler Welch in Netherlands

Fowler Welch is moving it Dutch operation from its Maasland facility to a larger site at Poeldijk in the southern Westland region of the Netherlands.

Fowler Welch has chosen 10,000 sq m warehouse at the ABC Westland commercial hub in Poeldijk, near The Hague. It handles a range of ambient and temperature controlled transport and consolidation, including produce, salads, fruits, plants and flowers to all the major supermarket chains.

The new location offers good transport links to the UK, via ferry, and by road to the principal conurbations and manufacturing centres of Northern Europe. A daily groupage service is also provided to the Channel Islands.

In addition to its ‘bread-and-butter’ road and ferry-based services, Fowler Welch also plans to focus on its airfreight business, with operations from Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Westland into Heathrow.

General manager Bas de Koning said: “Poeldijk places us at the centre of one of the primary transport hubs on the European mainland.”
