50 new reefers for Freshlinc

Spalding-based chilled food distributor Freshlinc has taken delivery of 25 new reefers from Schmitz Cargobull, and will take another 25 in preparation for Christmas.

All 50 trailers are being mounted with Carrier Transicold’s most powerful Vector 1850 multi temperature fridge units, fitted with fuel level sensors, and covered by Carrier’s fixed cost Golden Cold repair and maintenance agreement.

The trucks have strengthened front bulkheads, supermarket style compression buffers and additional marker lights. They are all on Schmitz Cargobull’s semi chassis which it reckons is about 500-700kg lighter than competitor models built on a full chassis, and offers increased payload capacity.

The trailers will operate from Freshlinc’s Spalding depot supporting major supermarkets and also transporting produce from the company’s own farming division, Lincolnshire Field Products.

One of the trucks’ livery was designed by local school children as part of the Yorkshire charity The Well Project. It is currently being used to assist Freshlinc in delivering more than a million pumpkins in just a two week period to meet Halloween demand.
