Norbert Dentressangle won a contract to manage the import and distribution of real Christmas trees from Belgium to UK retailers for Needlefresh Direct.
Since November Norbert Dentressangle has been managing the inbound trees from Belgium, and from growers’ sites in Hereford and Yattendon in Basingstoke. It then delivers them to supermarkets, DIY stores and independent retailers across the UK.
Needlefresh supplies each tree with a unique tracking number. Norbert Dentressangle has integrated its own IT with Needlefresh’s in-house system, to trace each tree through its supply chain network.
Christopher Hood, director, at Needlefresh, said: “Obviously this is a seasonal business with very tight time scales so we need a transport provider that we could trust to react quickly and provide a reliable solution. While efficiency is imperative, Norbert Dentressangle is also ensuring careful loading and handling of the trees so that they reach our customers in excellent pre-sale condition.”
