APC Overnight has appointed Syed Ziaullah chief executive following the recent retirement of Ivor Skinner.
Ziaullah has been the company’s operations director since January 2008 where he has been responsible for implementation of new systems as well as the modernisation of the trunking fleet with environmentally friendlier trucks, trailers and vans.
For nearly 30 years, Ziaullah has run his own courier company, County Couriers Ltd trading as Action Express in Northampton, which is an active member of the APC network. Action Express was one of the original 53 shareholder depots that were involved in the formation of APC in 1994.
As chief executive, he will lead the project team for APC’s new purpose-built £14 million, 128,000 sq ft national hub at Kingswood Lake near Cannock which will provide double the capacity of the current site near Wolverhampton.
“It is a tough market, but we are proving to our customers that APC is the key ingredient they need to ensure the success of their own businesses,” said Ziaullah.
APC turned over £58 million in the period 2010-2011 with pre-tax profits of £3.4 million. It currently delivers 1.4 million parcels a month throughout the UK through its 120 strong network of local depots.
