BPI has commissioned a £4.5m waste plant to recycle polythene waste such as used pallet stretch wrap, garment covers and shrink film.

The plant will enable bpi.recycled products to recycle an additional 25,000 tonnes of waste material each year. This waste will be used to create new products include refuse sacks, outdoor furniture and building films. The business already recycles some 70,000 tonnes of material each year.

Business director Gerry McGarry said: “The new plant at Rhymney will help to increase our already extensive recycling capabilities, bringing major benefits not only to our business, but also to UK recycling and to the environment as a whole.”
