Family-owned distribution company Truswell has taken a 70,000 sq ft unit next to its existing headquarters at the Fallbank Industrial Estate at Dodworth near Barnsley.
It chose the facility, which comprises a distribution warehouse and office accommodation within a ten-acre site, to enable it to consolidate its South Yorkshire operations, relocating the bulk of the operations from the current premises adjacent to the new unit and from the Sheffield depot.
The sale, on behalf of The Co-op, was organised by the industrial agency team at CBRE’s Sheffield office.
Truswell was established over a century ago. It has operating centres in Douglas (Lanarkshire) and at Scunthorpe, and a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and 250 trailers.
It will undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the building and site. It can also make use of the plentiful supply of land on the new site for possible future development.

Roger Haworth, senior director industrial agency at CBRE Sheffield, said: “The extensive site offers superb potential for possible further expansion and has the external storage and parking areas required by the occupier. Furthermore the site is situated in a strategic location just off Junction 37 of the M1 which provides good accessibility.”
