By wpengineRotterdam World Gateway has started construction of the first phase of a new deep-sea container terminal on Maasvlakte 2 in the Port of Rotterdam.
The 108 hectare site with a quay wall of 1,150 metres, a quayside depth of 20 metres and a 550-metre quay specifically designed for barges has already been built by the Port of Rotterdam. The terminal will open in the second half of 2014.
