Toll Global Forwarding has appointed Steve Buckerfield as UK managing director.
He will be responsible for more than 400 staff at 15 locations in the UK. In addition to handling mainstream general freight, Toll has specialist divisions catering for defence, oil and gas, hanging garments and perishables.
Buckerfield has spent 28 years in the freight industry. Starting as an export clerk at Emery Worldwide, he went on to work for American Airlines from 1990 until 2004, rising to the post of managing director, sales – Europe.
He then worked for freight forwarding and logistics providers Walker Freight (later CH Robinson) and, most recently, OHL – where he was senior VP aales for its EMEA region.
