Chiltern Cold Storage is to build a 20,000 sq ft ambient storage extension to its primary warehouse site at Peterborough.
The current site offers 12,500 pallets of frozen capacity, 1,500 pallets of chill and 4,000 pallets of ambient to which the extension will add 3,500 ambient pallet spaces.
Designed and constructed by Stepford Construction, the additional space will allow the company to merge all their processing and storage on to one site.
Paul Jackson, managing director of Chiltern Cold Storage Group Limited, said: “It had long been my ambition to add a purpose built ambient warehouse to the site.
“For us this is the final piece of the jigsaw giving us complete frozen, chilled and ambient facilities all on one site.
It has borrowed £1.3m from Barclays to fund the work. “We worked closely with Graham Martin of Barclays Corporate Banking and Nick Peters of Stepford Construction to ensure a smooth transition from design, build and completion.”
