Employment prospects in transport are the most positive for nearly a decade, according to employment group Manpower.
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for the second quarter showed a 19 per cent improvement for the transport sector over the previous quarter. The index now stands at + 17 per cent.
“We are pleased to see that the outlook in the transport sector has moved firmly into positive territory, and is the most positive number we have seen for eight years”, says Simon Edwards, Manpower sector director – logistics.
“We are also seeing a return of skills shortages during peak demand periods at all levels; not only in the traditional areas of driver resource but also at mid to senior management levels. The logistics industry is an important GDP generator and requires new entrants from diverse backgrounds to ensure its future success.”
