Next has awarded Hermes a four-year contract extension to handle the delivery requirements for Next Directory until 2022, in one of the UK’s biggest ever home delivery deals.
The contract sees orders picked and packed daily in Next’s distribution centres, which are then delivered overnight into a Hermes regional depot network and distributed to households throughout the UK.
The two companies have been working together since the launch of Next Directory in 1988 and went on to set up the online service and next day delivery option in 2000.
Carole Woodhead, chief executive officer of Hermes UK, said: “By extending this contract until 2022, Next has shown a high level of confidence in our ability to continue to provide a multi-channel solution with a range of flexible and affordable delivery options.”
* Hermes’ myHermes ParcelShop network says it has seen a significant boost in the number of parcels handled as a result of the postal strike over the Easter weekend. In striking areas the average increase was around 10 per cent, but some locations saw volumes double.
