Knights of Old Group has acquired AE Parker Warehousing and Distribution, increasing the group turnover to more than £50m.
AE Parker located in Chichester on the south coast has been trading in haulage and storage for over 75 years. Its network covers the UK, with partners in Ireland and continental Europe.
The enlarged group will have some 500 staff, 200 trucks, 225 trailers and 300,000 sq ft of warehousing.
Parker will continue to trade under the AE Parker banner.
Mike Bacon, group director of Knights of Old, said: “Due to AE Parkers location and enviable reputation in the area, we are confident that this acquisition will strengthen our operations and enhance our wide range of services”.
John Parker, managing director of AE Parker, said: “We have enjoyed a long standing and mutually beneficial business relationship and this is an exciting development. We will be able to offer enhanced services to our clients and are confident that being part of Knights of Old Group will help us to deliver our future growth plans”.
In December 2011, Kettering-based Knights of Old merged with the Mainland Group to create the enlarged Knights of Old Group.
Knights of Old can trace its history back to 1865 when William Knight began transporting goods using a horse and cart. In 1918 the company began to use motorised vehicles.
