Bed manufacturer Relyon has awarded a five-year contract hire deal to Ryder, to add 13 of its Mercedes-Benz Actros 1842LS Euro 5 tractor units to Relyon’s fleet.
The vehicles join an existing fleet of more than 55 of Ryder’s trucks, tractors and trailers, supplied for nationwide retail delivery operations from Relyon’s Devon and Somerset sites.

They will be used along with 34-step frame trailers, the largest of which are used for bulk customer deliveries and deliveries to distribution centres, while the smaller ones will serve retailers in smaller towns.
Ryder also supplies Relyon with a fleet of 7.5-tonne trucks which are used primarily for deliveries to stores in London.
All the vehicles in the Relyon fleet are maintained and serviced by a dedicated Ryder workshop on-site at Relyon’s Wellington, Somerset, location.
“We deliver to retailers from Cornwall to the north of Scotland and our trucks clock up high mileage so fuel economy was a crucial factor in vehicle choice,” said Laurie Farley, Relyon’s logistics manager.
“In addition, it was felt that the new Actros gave us the best possible brand presence on the high street.”
