The Container Owners Association has added two new members to its Board of Directors. WJ Yang, senior vice president and operation group head, Hanjin Shipping; and Uffe Ernst-Frederiksen, head of cargo management, Maersk Line.
The COA is an international organisation, representing the interests of all owners of freight containers, including container shipping lines, container leasing companies, intermodal operators and NVOCCs.
It manages a number industry projects covering technical, safety and environmental issues relating to containers and containerised cargo.
Paul Merritt, chief operating officer of Seaco Global, Singapore and the Interim Chairman of the COA, said: “In accepting our invitation to join the COA Board of Directors, Yang and Ernst-Frederiksen bring a wealth of experience and shipping industry knowledge to the COA. Their contribution to the Association’s future strategy will be greatly valued.”
