Eddie Stobart is to take a 420,000 sq ft rail-connected distribution centre at Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) after reaching a lease agreement with property developer Prologis.
Construction of the site will begin in November with a planned summer 2015 completion date. It will be cross-docked and has been designed to achieve BREEAM ‘excellent’ accreditation and an EPC A rating.
William Stobart, Eddie Stobart CEO, said: “This new building will further our rail capability and is a significant investment in the continuing success of our business.”
The rail-connected DC is adjacent to the West Coast Mainline and the M1, and includes a dedicated canopied rail platform. A spokesperson from Prologis said that this combined road and rail connectivity will provide Eddie Stobart with maximum operational efficiency.
Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK, said: “This is the first building we have let to Eddie Stobart, and we are delighted that we can meet the company’s requirements.”
JLL and Burbage Realty acted for Prologis, while Roebuck Asset Management represented Eddie Stobart.
