Yantra Corporation, the synchronised fulfilment management software solutions specialist, has supplied Royal Mail with its Yantra 5x software applications to improve the operating efficiency of its internal distribution operations. Royal Mail is implementing the Distributed Order Management, Product Management and Supply Chain Event Management components of the Yantra 5x product suite to streamline distribution of consumables, spare parts and other products to all its sites and 16,500 Post Office branches. Fulfilment of similar products to Royal Mail customers will also be hosted on the system. Royal Mail’s expects to realise cost savings to the business in the initial phase of circa £1M per year.

Central heating system manufacturer Worcester has implemented a sophisticated inventory optimisation system. Supplied by Inform, the system has enabled Worcester to maintain 100% ex-stock on 4,000 stock lines. Worcester has virtually eliminated out-of-stock situations, ensuring heating system installers get the parts they need without delay. The advanced Inform software optimises decision-making for procurement and inventory control to give accurate and real-time forecasting. Called add*One, the Inform system provides advanced mathematics for demand forecasting, purchase order call-off, and inbound freight cost minimisation.

Sterling Commerce has achieved ebXML Messaging Service Interoperability & Conformance Validation. The company says that completion of this validation represents another important step in the adoption of open, global standards to facilitate B2B Internet commerce across the supply chain. Sponsored by eBusinessReady, an industry-neutral software compliance and interoperability testing program under joint partnership of the Uniform Code Council and Drummond Group, the testing ensures available multiple, interoperable vendor solutions for subsequent deployment.
