During 2005, one out of every four trucks sold in the UK was a DAF, according to end-of-year statistics from DAF Trucks NV.

DAF Trucks produced a record number of 41,200 CF and XF models last year, together with 11,300 Leyland-produced LF series. DAF’s marketing and sales director, Kerry McDonagh said: “Together with our sales units and our dealers, we achieved a record market share in a record market.”

DAF made the announcement following a record year in both manufacturing and sales. They said that according to the latest information, the 6 – 15 ton market in western Europe reached a volume of 77,000 registrations in 2005 against 75,000 in 2004.

“According to the currently available market information, we have achieved a market share of 13.7 per cent in the over 15 ton segment, almost a full per cent growth compared with 2004, when we reached 12.9 per cent; a tremendous achievement of the whole of our organisation and a clear recognition of the class-leading quality of our products and services.”

“2005 has been a great year for DAF Trucks. A lot has been accomplished, targets have been exceeded and records have been achieved in sales and production numbers as well as in market share.” said Aad Goudriaan, president of DAF Trucks N.V.

In the over 15 ton segment, DAF’s market share in the UK reached a record of 26.8 per cent in 2005, over 23.2 per cent in 2004.
