Arlington Packaging and Roke Manor Research have begun a new joint venture combining RFID and returnable transit containers.
Harry Fairbank, managing director of Arlington Packaging said: “The use of RFID within the distribution chain to track and manage transit containers will reduce losses and increase utilisation.”
He said that the new venture will mean fewer containers in use at once and will result in fewer wasted journeys to collect or redistribute containers that are in the wrong place.
He also said: “This will reduce costs and ultimately benefit the environment.”
