Third-party logistics company CEVA Logistics has officially inaugurated a new 67,000m² fulfilment centre for Amazon in Brazil.
Located, 30km from the country’s capital, Brasilia, the strategic logistics hub will support up to 135,000 packages daily.
It is Amazon’s 15th fulfilment hub in Brazil and second in the Federal District, a key logistics hub for the central-west region of the country.
The centre was officially opened earlier in November, with the ceremony attended by Governor Ibaneis Rocha, public authorities, as well as executives from Amazon and CEVA.
“We are excited about the expansion of our operations, which supports the creation of more than 1,400 job opportunities in the Federal District,” stated Ricardo Pagani, director of operations at Amazon Brazil.
“We want to continue contributing to the local economy by reinventing logistics through artificial intelligence and technology solutions,” he added.
In September, Amazon opened its first fulfilment centre in Abu Dhabi.
Opening of the new fulfilment hub in Brazil reinforces the relationship between CEVA Logistics and Amazon Brazil, while bolstering the 3PL’s presence in the region.
CEVA Logistics has been expanding its contract logistics operations across Brazil, almost doubling its warehousing footprint over the past 12 months to reach 300,000m2.
The 3PL said it is investing in excess of R$100 million (£14.4m) in Brazil over the next three years, with the goal of reaching 620,000m2 of contract logistics space across the region by 2028.
