Third-party logistics provider CEVA Logistics announced the start of operations at a major fashion logistics facility in Toledo, Spain.
Located in the Santa María Benquerencia Industrial Estate, the 75,000m² (c. 807,000ft²) facility can process more than 120 million garments each year.
The hub features an advanced automated fulfilment system that designed to meet the demands of both physical retail networks and e-commerce operations.
Around 60% of order picking is automated, while a 10,000m² automated storage area incorporates capacity for more than 60,000 pallets and a fleet of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
The site employs around 400 permanent logistics workers, with CEVA projecting there will be up to jobs 1,000 during peak periods and seasonal sales campaigns.
Puerto Ahedo, contract logistics leader, Spain, CEVA Logistics, said: “We have successfully integrated quality job creation with cutting-edge robotics and automation and sustainable operations, setting a new benchmark in the industry.”
The new hub also features rooftop solar generation, expected to generate up to 500,000kWh per year once fully operational, which will help power the site’s automation and robotics.
