DHL Parcel UK, the parcel delivery arm of DHL Group in the UK, has announced that is rebranding to DHL eCommerce in order to “better reflect the company’s core focus”.
It adds that this change should also contribute to “maintaining a cohesive brand identity and visibility across all the countries in which the company operates”.
To coincide with the new name, DHL eCommerce has announced that it has invested £18.4 million in three new UK sites. These facilities are located in Coventry, Kidderminster and Preston; all three are now open and operational.
The Kidderminster and Preston sites replace DHL facilities in their respective areas and it is hoped that, through more space and modern automation, they can lead to service improvements. The 40,000ft² Kidderminster facility features “a new state-of-the-art warehouse automation system” while the 64,000ft² Preston site – triple the size of its predecessor – features a sortation system that DHL claims can efficiently sort up to 3,000 parcels per hour.
The Coventry site is a 80,000ft² depot facility which, according to DHL, will create 80 new jobs in the area.

The £18.4m spent on the project to develop these sites is part of a wider strategy that will see a total of £482m invested in DHL’s UK operations. The company has confirmed plans to build a second hub in Coventry, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024.
