DP World is expanding its China-Africa shipping network with a new weekly service connecting major Chinese ports with Tanzania and Mozambique.
The China Africa Link, operated by DP World’s Shipping Solutions AMEA business, is scheduled to begin in late November 2026, providing additional shipping connections between the Far East and East and Southern Africa.
The service will operate a rotation covering Shanghai, Ningbo and Nansha in China, Port Klang in Malaysia, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Maputo in Mozambique and Singapore, before returning to Shanghai.
It will support shipments of machinery, electronics, construction materials and automotive components from China, alongside African exports including agricultural products, minerals and other commodities.
DP World said the service forms part of its Connected Trade Corridors strategy, which aims to bring together shipping services, ports and inland transport to create more integrated and flexible trade networks.
Ganesh Raj, global chief operating officer, Marine Services at DP World, said: “Global trade is changing, and our customers need more than shipping capacity. They need reliable connections, greater choice and the flexibility to adapt as trade patterns evolve.
“By strengthening maritime connectivity between China and Africa, we are opening up more opportunities for businesses and creating smarter, more flexible shipping networks that help keep cargo moving.”
The launch comes as DP World continues to invest in African port infrastructure.
In Mozambique, the company is undertaking a US$165 million expansion of the Maputo container terminal, which is expected to more than double handling capacity.
DP World has also committed more than US$500 million to modernising the Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
