Multimodal operator FS Logistix has announced HSL Belgium will take over railway shunting services at the Port of Antwerp.
HSL Belgium, which is controlled by TX Logistik, will operate first- and last-mile services in the port’s Marshalldok area (zone 6A). The European rail freight operator said it will deploy hybrid locomotives, with the first DE18 hybrid already in service on routes between Antwerp North and Antwerp Petrol.
A second new DE18 locomotive is also scheduled to be commissioned, replacing an older diesel model.
The contract aligns with the company’s strategy to improve the efficiency and connectivity of rail freight services in Belgium on key European routes.
“We are continuing on our path of internationalisation to become the European market leader in integrated logistics,” said Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of FS Logistix. “The award of the tender through our company TX Logistik confirms the implementation of measures to strengthen our presence in Europe.”
TX Logistik has been wholly owned by FS Logistix, a subsidiary of the FS Italiane Group, since 2017.
FS Logistix recently acquired a 30% stake in the operation of the Mainhub terminal in Antwerp, in partnership with Lineas. The company is also involved in the management of commercial traffic between Belgium and Italy.
