DHL Express has expanded its logistics infrastructure and air network in China via the expansion of its Shenzhen “Super Gateway” with a €177 million (c. £151m) investment.
Located at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, the gateway has tripled processing capacity to approximately 900 tons per day.
DHL has also introduced a new dedicated air route with a widebody Boeing 767 freighter linking Shanghai, Bangkok, Bahrain and Brussels.
Reportedly, this was done to provide additional capacity and connectivity for customers moving goods between China and key markets across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
The additional uplift also supports the company’s growing Heavyweight Express offering, enabling customers to move larger shipments through the DHL Express international time-definite network with door-to-door visibility, customs expertise and predictable transit times.
Demand is growing among customers in sectors such as technology, industrial manufacturing, semiconductors, healthcare, data center infrastructure and new energy, many of which rely heavily on manufacturing and supplier networks in China and across Asia.
