The NYK Group has set out a new medium term business plan, “More than shipping 2013”, to drive its global expansion.
The plan, which covers the three years to March 2014, carries the subtitle “Glow with Asia, expand across the globe”. It sets out how the group will combine its traditional shipping activities with value added strategies.
Key points include:
* Leveraging logistics capabilities – effectively capture Asia’s growing transportation business.
* Utilise auto logistics capabilities – actively respond to all auto transport supply chain needs in Asia.
* Employ technological capabilities – secure highly advanced energy transportation business.
* Leverage global network – proactively expand overseas natural resources and energy transport business.
The plan targets sales to rise from 1,930bn yen (£14.8bn) in 2010 to 2,700bn yen (£20.7bn) in 2016 while recurring profit is forecast to rise from 120bn yen (£920m) in to 170bn yen (£1.3bn) in 2016.
The previous plan, “New Horizon 2010”, ran from April 2008 to March 2011, focusing on three management strategies, Growth, Stability and Environment.
