Eddie Stobart is trialling two IVECO Ecostralis tractor units, powered by a re-mapped version of the FPT Cursor 10 engine, which reduces fuel consumption whilst maintaining performance.
The trucks will be used for general nationwide haulage, operating with tri-axle curtainside trailers at a gross vehicle weight of up to 44 tonnes.
In the Stobart tradition, it has named the two vehicles “Sophie” and “Lynda Dawn”.
The EEV-rated 10.3 litre engine is capable of producing up to 460 hp and a maximum torque of 2,100 Nm between 1,050 and 1,550 rev/min.
They are also supplied with Michelin X Energy SaverGreen low rolling resistance tyres as original equipment, and benefit from a higher gearing and an 85 km/h speed limiter to further optimise fuel performance.
