Independent music distributor Cargo Records has appointed Gem Logistics to be its primary distribution partner for three years.
“We have been looking for a number of years for a partner to take care of our warehousing and physical distribution,” said Phil Hill, at Cargo Records.
“Meeting the Gem Logistics team and seeing their first class set up and state of the art facilities we realised we need to look no further.”
Cargo Records is a distributor of independent records labels selling to UK retailers and distributors around the world. Since it was set up in the UK in 1992 it has built up a reputation for introducing acts such as Blink 182, the White Stripes, and Devendra Banhart to the UK market.
Gem will run the contract from its 250,000 sq ft warehouse in Northamptonshire which shipped some 65m units in 2011/2012.
