Logistics Strategy

Winner: Coca-Cola Enterprises

There was a strong shortlist for this Award. Mitchells & Butler has transformed its supply chain bringing in Brakes to consolidate food and consumable deliveries resulting in a significant per cent reduction in distribution costs.

A strong partnership between VOW and Gist has produced a network engineering solution that provided significant savings.

Unilever won an Award last year for its Ultralogistik development and has extended its strategy over the past year.

Some intelligent logistics work with DHL Supply Chain has enabled Jaguar Land Rover to consolidate production at Castle Bromwich. At the same time it has reduced operational inventory by reconfiguring the site to create more space and increase flows as the facility has reached capacity.

Henkel was Highly Commended for developing an innovative logistics strategy to service customers in a number of Middle East countries including Egypt, Algeria and Syria.

But the Award went to Coca-Cola Enterprises which has centralised its multi-drop planning and is working closely with its customers to group branches for more efficient delivery patterns. It has also developed multi-drop backhaul system saving a huge amount of empty running.
