IntraLogisteX MEA, one of the Middle East and Africa’s leading gatherings for supply chain and logistics professionals, opens this month in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of the event, Logistics Manager caught up with one of the experts speaking at the event – Alena Kavalchuk, supply chain director for Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society (ADCOOP) at MAIR Group.

What topic will you be speaking about at IntraLogisteX MEA 2025?
I’ll be presenting on ‘Supply Chain Resilience and Food Security in the Middle East’, aligned with MAIR Group’s strategy. My session will explore how sustainability-driven strategies help strengthen supply chains to withstand disruptions – from climate change to geopolitical shifts – ensuring long-term food security in the region. We’ll also look at collaborative models, scalable partnerships, and enabling technologies that can enhance both resilience and sustainability.
Why is this topic particularly relevant to the MEA region at this time?
The Middle East is highly dependent on global food supply chains, making it vulnerable to shocks such as pandemics, conflicts and climate events. At the same time, the region faces extreme weather conditions like heatwaves and flooding due to global warming. There’s also a critical social dimension – many supply flows come from developing countries where human rights and labor issues persist. These challenges make it essential to build robust, ethical and climate-resilient supply chains now.
What key trends or technologies are shaping the future of logistics and supply chain operations in the Middle East and Africa?
Demand-driven planning and predictive technologies, including AI, are reshaping the region’s logistics. When companies collaborate and share reliable data, it becomes easier to anticipate risks, improve transparency, and make smarter, faster decisions.
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s IntraLogisteX MEA?
I’m excited to connect with leaders who want to drive meaningful change. It’s time we elevate supply chain beyond procurement – recognising it as a strategic driver for resilience and growth.
What one piece of advice would you give to logistics professionals preparing for digital transformation?
Be open. Learn from others. Collaborate. And don’t hesitate to celebrate and share your wins – no matter how small or big. Every step forward matters.
