Maersk to increase inland haulage rates

Maersk is to increase its inland haulage rates from 15th October to reflect rising costs in the haulage market.

It cited a number of factors – in particular:

* Road congestion and extensive roadworks on some trunk routes

* Shortage of qualified drivers

* Rail capacity fully use throughout the UK

* Lineside engineering works

* Congested inland depots

* Port congestion – particularly Felixstowe following migration to new IT system

* Rising oil prices.
