RHA aims to attract more women

The RHA is launching ‘She’s RHA’, an initiative designed to address the shortage of women in road transport. Currently, only two per cent of the 2.2 million workforce in road transport are women.

The initiative was created by RHA board member Lesley O’Brien. “The aim of She’s RHA is to promote a new, welcoming culture for this industry,” said chief executive Richard Burnett. “Women already play a key role in logistics at all levels but we need to increase the numbers.

“We believe that by providing a forum for women to share advice, information and knowledge, She’s RHA will not only create a much-needed spirit of camaraderie, it will also highlight the vast range of career choices this vital sector can provide.”

There will be a launch event taking place around the end of February in the north of England.
