Swedish manufacturer Thule has appointed Mecalux to develop a new automated warehouse in Krzyż Wielkopolski, Poland.
The facility will consolidate product flows across Europe while also supporting international markets.
“Our goals are to increase throughput, leverage our storage space and ensure product traceability,” said Paweł Pępiak, director of the distribution centre for Europe and ROW. “Automation will enhance cost efficiency and streamline processes, enabling us to deliver superior service and improve customer satisfaction.”
The clad-rack warehouse will measure 42m in height and will be equipped with six automated stacker cranes, enabling storage of nearly 40,000 pallets. The system will be integrated with Thule’s existing manual warehouse and production operations via conveyors and pallet lifts.
The facility will also feature a floor-mounted electric monorail system to transport pallets between the receiving, storage and dispatch areas.
Operations will be managed using Mecalux’s Easy WMS, which will optimise storage allocation, coordinate order picking and provide full product traceability.
