Yusen Logistics has officially opened a 1.2 million ft² automated distribution centre in Northampton, providing 236,000 pallet positions for contract logistics operations.
The Sustainable Distribution Centre (SDC), located at Milton Malsor close to Junction 15 of the M1, started operating in June 2026. The official opening ceremony took place in September.
Automation at the facility includes automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and four-way pallet shuttle systems.

The multi-user facility is designed to support customers across sectors including e-commerce, retail, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. It also incorporates dedicated temperature-controlled areas for healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics.

The facility has achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating and incorporates solar power generation, rainwater harvesting and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Around 150 people are expected to be employed at the site.
